12/12 Silversmithing with Temper & True
Thursday, 12/12 4-7pm
Make the hoop earrings you’ve been dreaming of or make the ideal handmade present for a buddy in this three hour beginner workshop. Expect to gain familiarity with basic traditional jewelry tools and techniques. You will learn to measure, cut, solder, file, form and finish the material. Expect to make one to three pairs of earrings depending on the complexity of your designs. I will provide 14 gauge round bronze and sterling silver for the earrings, and 20 gauge sterling silver wire for the French earring hooks. (These are the dimensions of the circle hoops I sell.) If you have experienced the need for smaller-than-standard earring hook wire, let me know and I will bring smaller 22 gauge material. You are invited to make similar earrings to the ones in the photo, or to expand and explore any shapes, lines and forms you want. Please bring a journal, sketchbook or piece of paper and a writing utensil to sketch out ideas. All other tools and materials will be provided.
